2000 Maruchan Miami Youth International Judo Championships ELIGIBILITY Non U.S. Citizens: Athletes must compete for the country of which they are a citizen and must present a letter from their countrys federation stating that they are a member in good standing and have the Federations permission to compete. Proof of Citizenship must be presented at Tournament Check-in. Passports are mandatory for all citizens of countries other than the United States. United States Citizens: A U.S. Citizen may participate if he or she is a current member in good standing of United States Judo, Inc. United States citizens must present either a passport or a birth certificate. Citizens of No Country: Individuals who are not citizens of any country, but are authorized by the Department of Justice of the United States to remain in the United States, may participate by meeting the criteria listed above for U.S. Citizens. All Athletes: All athletes must meet the age and weight requirements. Proof of age must be shown. All individuals must also submit all required documents and pay the appropriate entry fee. U. S. Cost: $75.00 per person. Cost DOES NOT include Hotel or Meals. Meal packages (breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet) are available for $33.00 per day. Refer to camp entry form for details. HOTEL Miami Airport Marriott 1201 N.W. Lejeune Rd., Miami, Florida 33126. Rates single through quad fixed rate of $89.00 plus 12.5% tax (one to four in a room). RESERVATIONS CUT OFF JUNE 30, 2000(ASK FOR JUDO GROUP RATE) CHECK IN TIME: 3:00 PM; CHECK OUT TIME: 12 NOON MEALS Meal packages (breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet) are available for $33.00 per day for both the tournament and the camp, payable in advance. Please enclose payment for meals along with your application. VENUE Florida International University / Golden Panther Arena (University Park, Miami, FL, 33199) TRANSPORTATION Transportation to and from the Airport to the hotel will be provided by the hotel. Contact the hotel for pickup. (International countries need to make prior arrangements for pickup) Transportation will be provided by the tournament committee on scheduled times between the Hotel and Venue. ENTRY FEES AND APPLICATION DEADLINE Entry fee is $40.00 per contestant. Personal check, cashiers check or money order made payable to the 2000 U.S. International Judo Championships must accompany the entry form. The deadline for application is June 30, 2000. All entry fees and required documentation must be received at the address printed on the Official Entry Form by that date. An incomplete entry form will not be accepted. Any forms received after June 30, 2000 will be considered a late entry and the entry fee will be $60.00. Forms received after July 14, 2000 will not be entitled to compete unless approval is given by the Tournament Director. RULES The Championships will be conducted in accordance with the Contest Rules, Organization Code and Sporting Code of the International Judo Federation, modified for Junior competition as stated below. These rules include, but are not limited to eligibility, draw, weigh-in, length of contests, and competition procedures.
Cadet and Youth: Male - 5 minutes; Female - 4 minutes METHOD OF COMPETITION
SEEDING OF ATHLETES There will be no seeding of athletes. Draw will conducted by approved computer software and will be random with the provision that athletes from the same country will be separated as far apart in the pools as possible NOTICE OF POSSIBLE TESTING FOR BANNED SUBSTANCES Testing, in accordance with the Anti-Doping Rules and Procedures of the International Judo Federation, may be conducted to determine whether an athlete is utilizing a substance forbidden by the International Olympic Committee. In the event there is a question concerning whether or not a substance is on the list, call 1-800-233-0393 (United States Olympic Committee Drug Hotline). AWARDS First, Second, and two (2) Third place medals will be awarded in each category. The Reinaldo Montpellier Inspirational award will be presented. The Maruchan most outstanding male and female competitor award will be presented. CATEGORIES OF COMPETITION Listed below are the categories of competition. These categories are based on the players year of birth; age on the day of the tournament is irrelevant. For each category, a contestant must be the listed age, or younger, during the entire of 2000. Thus, a player who becomes 20 years of age anytime during 2000 is not eligible to compete in the "under 20 years" Category. Refer to entry form for exact weight divisions. |

| 2000 Maruchan Miami Youth International Judo Championships SCHEDULE OF EVENTS The following is a general schedule of events. All dates and days of the week are final. However, the times listed are approximate and the Organizing Committee reserves the right to change these, if necessary. The final schedule will be provided to delegations, officials, and athletes upon arrival. Friday, July 20, 2000 0800-1400 (8:00 am - 2:00 pm): Tournament Check-in. All athletes must check-in with tournament officials, in person, at the tournament headquarters hotel to confirm participation and make a final declaration of weight Category. 1600-1700 (4:00 pm - 5:00pm): Referee meeting 1700-1800 (5:00 pm - 6:00pm): Official Weigh-in for Junior (under 15 yrs.) and Cadet (under 17 yrs.) Categories ONLY. Contestants may check weight as many times as desired prior to the start of the official weigh-in. During official weigh-in, a contestant is given only one chance on the scale.Saturday, July 21, 2000 0830 (8:30 A.M.): Eliminations (all matches except medal matches); Junior (under 15 yrs.) and Cadets (under 17 yrs.) 1500-1600 (3:00 pm - 4:00pm): Official Weigh-in for Juvenile (under 13 yrs.) and Youth (under 20 yrs.) Categories ONLY. Contestants may check weight as many times as desired prior to the start of the official weigh-in. During official weigh-in, a contestant is given only one chance on the scale.1600 (4:00 P.M.): Opening Ceremony Medal matches follow Opening Ceremonies Order of matches will be determined after preliminary rounds. Awards Sunday, July 22, 2000 0830 (8:30 A.M.): Eliminations (all matches except medal matches); Juvenile (under 13 yrs.) and Youth (under 20 yrs.) Medal matches will occur 1 hour following the end of the eliminations; order of matches will be determined after preliminary rounds. Awards: Following the medal matches. Closing ceremonies: Following the awards. Social Function: A banquet will follow the closing ceremony for athletes, coaches, and officials at no cost. Due to the limited space family and friends need to make reservations and send payment of $7.00 per person by July 07, 2000. Make fee payable to Miami Youth International Judo Championship. Tickets will be issued at registration. Agree that prior to participating, I will inspect the mats, equipment, facilities, competition pools or divisions and the elimination or scoring system to be used, and if I believe anything is unsafe or beyond my capability, I will immediately advise my coach, supervisor, and/or a tournament official of such conditions and refuse to participate. 3. Acknowledge and fully understand that I will be engaging in a contact sport that might result in serious injury, including permanent disability or death, and severe social and economic losses due to not only my own actions, inactions, or negligence, but also to the actions, inactions, or negligence of others, the rules of the sport of Judo, or conditions of the premises or of any equipment used. Further, I acknowledge that there may be other risks not known to me or not reasonably foreseeable at this time. 4. Knowing the risks involved in the sport of Judo, I assume all such risks and accept personal responsibility for the damages following such injury, permanent disability, or death. 5.
